Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 8-week Orientation which gives you exposure to all part of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position. Additionally, all Graduates will develop leadership skills through quarterly development session and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid. You will meet amazing individuals, both within our organization and local communities and will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and insight to help you start and progress in your career. Job Purpose: To work in the Business Services organization, gain insight into strategic ways of working and learn how to provide value to our stakeholders. The individual will understand the vision and goals of Business Services, how we provide value to the organization and measure success. This position will provide opportunities to work, on a rotational basis, with various teams across our footprint in a variety of ways. Rotational Areas Include: Revenue Cycle Management (Billing Operations, Account Maintenance & Operations) Payment Processing (Credit & Collections, Revenue Assurance) Procure to Pay (Accounts Payable, Supply Chain Master Data) Tactical Procurement (Operational Excellence) Hire to Retire (Time Governance, Payroll, Employee Services) Operational Finance (Record to Report) Property (Strategy, Real Estate, Rights of Way, Facilities) Fleet Service Solutions and sustainability Position Responsibilities: Work with the Business Services leadership team to understand the vision, delivery model and goals. Ability to participate in meetings with operational teams, translate content into PowerPoint presentations and effectively deliver messaging to external stakeholders. Participate with cross-functional teams to comprehend their operational challenges and provide recommendations on new initiatives or projects. Seek an understanding of the different services offered by engaging with stakeholders to identify sources of data and process flows in order to propose key metrics that monitor and measure performance. Analyze existing processes by engaging with the business to identify potential efficiencies or savings that drive additional value to our customers. Qualifications Bachelor or Master's degree from an accredited institution Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities. Graduated between May 2018 and May 2019 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Possess solid written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts. Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program June 3, 2019 Valid driver's license with safe driving history Proficiency with Power Point, Excel, Word and other business software. Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics). Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience Capabilities: Ability to work both independently and in a group setting, and interact with all levels of management. Being agile to work with different teams with the ability to comprehend the variety of services we offer. Ability to handle shifting priorities, demands and timelines. Desire to learn and ask questions to gain an understanding of the Business Services model. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work productively with team members who come from a broad spectrum. Demonstrates all of National Grid's leadership qualities and capabilities.
