Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Systems Monitoring Specialist
is to proactively view the Syracuse University's campus-wide camera
system, known as the Genetec Video Security System (VSS), to
mitigate crimes-in-progress, suspicious, serious, or significant
incidents before the opportunity occurs. The position is also
responsible for acknowledging electronic access control alarms and
notifying Emergency Communications Center (ECC) dispatchers of the
alarm incidents to affect the proper response of emergency
first-responders. The position reports to Campus Safety and
Emergency Management Services under the Emergency Management and
Business Continuity section.
