POSITION SUMMARY

Successful applicants will act as the program purchasing lead and the voice of global supply chain management within the program team. They will be responsible for maintaining financial ownership for the entire Bill of Material in the launch phase, working closely with the Global Commodity Managers and local plant/commodity buyers to ensure parts are sourced on time while meeting the program's key achievements and budget. There will also be a strong emphasis on cost reductions in which this position may be responsible for developing and implementing a robust roadmap to achieve the plants annual and forecasted cost reduction target. The individual shall be capable of leading and directing multiple sophisticated new program BOMs, commodities and supplier relationships that ensures a smooth and flawless program launch which is continued throughout the product's entire production lifecycle.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ownership of complex BOM for multiple new products and customer programs, pre and post business award
* Responsible for holding program reviews with the rest of the supply chain management team to outline key program objectives and identify and communicate potential risk(s) w/ a sound mitigation plan.
* Manage launch reports, cost walks and one page summaries to senior management
* Participate in cross functional teams, including Product and Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management and Supplier Development.
* Responsible for leading new business and change management quotes to help secure/retain business.
* Responsible for the sourcing strategy on both new programs and new components that are not included in existing commodity strategy.
* Responsible for managing supplier tooling, capital requirements and capacity to ensure it aligns with program and contract requirements.
* Responsible for driving early supplier onboarding in order to minimize risk to production readiness;
* New, Unique or Difficult (NUD) processes or designs will need to be identified early so that an appropriate development plan can be established.
* Pre-production (prototype) builds will need to be supported from the production intent supplier.


* Select and negotiate agreements for components and tooling that aligns with both the plant and global supply chain / mfg. strategies.
* Responsible for handling all pre and post supplier nominations/sourcing activities as it pertains to supplier and/or engineering motivated changes;
* Send updated drawing to the supplier to confirm their quotation
* Lead and organize all required technical reviews with supplier and BW cross-functional team, including follow-up reviews.
* Ensure that BW and the supplier completes and signs off on the Team Feasibility Commitment Form (TFC).
* If an engineering change drives up cost, validate that the supplier's cost is justified and work with the supplier to mitigate that cost.
* If engineering change is intended to reduce cost, make certain BW receives the subsequent piece price or tooling cost reduction.
* Track all cost changes (i.e. engineering driven, customer driven, supplier driven, etc.)
* Ensure the PO documentation/authorization issued is to the correct design revision and capacity level.


* Work to identify and implement improvement opportunities when budget overages exist in the BOM.
* Lead a smooth transition from launch phase to production phase.

Safety and Health - Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

* Four year degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience
* 3+ years purchasing experience (automotive environment desired)
* Practical experience in the procurement of castings, stamping, plastic and machining processes is preferred
* Experience in project management.
* Experience in negotiating
