Job Purpose

The Order Management Specialist II is responsible for managing customer relationships, through phone and email communication, while maintaining a professional attitude to add value to the customer’s experience. The Order Management Specialist II is the main point of contact for processing all customer orders and shipments, as well as providing information updates as necessary.  This position will be responsible for training and mentoring Order Management Specialist I.

Essential Job Duties

60% - Enter and process all incoming orders, process credit memos and returns, credit card orders

15% - Complete freight, international shipments, Consolidation shipments

5% - Answer phone calls from customers, sales force, etc.

5% - Complete specialized tasks

5% - Mentor and Train Team Members

5% - Advanced troubleshooting, decision making and time management skills

5% - Advanced Product Knowledge

Basic Job Skills

  • What specific knowledge and skills are needed to perform the major duties?
  • Basic SAP, independence, organization, communication, time management, basic computer skills
  • Freight Forwarders, FedEx, DHL and UPS knowledge, attention to detail
  • Ability to listen, communication, empathy, basic product knowledge, patience, conflict resolution
  •  Basic SAP, attention to detail


Education and/or Experience - This represents the minimal education and years of experience essential for acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to carrying out the major duties described above.  Please note this may or may not equate to the person’s education/experience.

Associates Degree in Business, Communication or equivalent vocation/technical/military training with 3-6 years relevant experience.

Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting Relationships

Does not supervise other employees or intern/co-ops.

Receives moderate to limited supervision working from objectives set by supervisor. Employee organizes and carries out most assignments in accordance with standard practices, instructions or previous training. Employee handles some unusual situations independently.

Communication and Professional Interactions

This position will communication and interact daily with finance, product managers, planning/production, sales force, customers and freight forwarders.

Physical Requirements

No lifting, carrying or pushing requirements.

Excellent working conditions with no major sources of discomfort (e.g. nearly optimal office environment with good lighting, temperature and air conditions.) Reasonably good working conditions with minor discomforts. (e.g. occasional exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions.  Occasional exposure to office chemicals or continual (+50%) use of video display terminal.)
