Position Overview

As a Sr. Permitting Manager, Offshore Wind Development, your responsibilities will include navigating the statutory and regulatory environment for both onshore and offshore aspects of an offshore wind project and its related infrastructure. Particular focus will be given to the transition from the offshore to onshore environment and transmission infrastructure interconnection. The successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in similar work scopes for large coastal infrastructure projects such as offshore wind, inter-island interconnection, pipelines, telecommunications and port redevelopment. Additionally, experience with, local, state and federal jurisdictions as well as stakeholder engagement will be of relevance to the position. This position will require travel and representation of the company in regional forums. This position is based in New York or Boston. Applicants residing in the Northeast corridor with flexibility to travel to project sites will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the permitting of offshore wind facilities and associated infrastructure (both onshore and offshore).
  • Develop a permitting matrix accounting for local, state and federal jurisdictions as well as interfaces.
  • Interact with the land and offshore development teams to ensure permitting risks are adequately considered through the course of land acquisition, interconnection evaluation, and onshore/offshore facilities engineering and design.
  • Take a lead role in obtaining certain local, state and/or federal permits.
  • Represent Invenergy with customers, landowners, local and state officials and other stakeholders when necessary.
  • Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating with internal teams such as environmental compliance and strategy, engineering and development as well as external technical advisors.

Required Skills

  • A BS or BA from an accredited college program (Business or Engineering degrees preferred). A master's degree or other advanced degree in a relevant topic area is preferred.
  • 5-8 years work experience in the offshore renewable, offshore oil and gas or offshore telecommunications fields.
  • Experience in permitting large infrastructure projects, preferably energy, related to onshore/offshore environments.
  • Experience permitting offshore wind, onshore wind, electrical submarine transmission lines, or pipelines and telecommunications projects.
  • Experience with environmental and social impact assessments.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal permitting, preferably related to offshore wind and the NEPA process
  • Project Management experience and skills.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to manage the development and execution of a strategic plan for the permitting.
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills
  • Strong public speaking and personal skills.
  • Ability to review and write effective, concise reports.
