PPC (a Belden Company) is now hiring an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for their Syracuse, NY facility. Our Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with company requirements. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will perform regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, analyze defect trends, resolve supplier issues, and support continuous improvement. Responsibilities for our Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer will include: Implements, maintains, and improves quality standards for global suppliers to ensure the production and delivery of the highest quality product to PPC. Oversees the supplier PPAP submission, reviews the supplier product warrant package, FA samples and performs capability study on submitted samples, providing feedback to the suppliers. Reviews and monitors supplier quality performance including defective sample verification and test during incoming inspection, PPAP submission, production NC due the supplier quality issue and engineering sample review. Reviews and makes dispositions on suspect and rejected materials. Champions supplier corrective and preventive actions to contain and resolve the quality issues at hand. Develops the global supplier quality improvement plan and drives for supplier quality continuous improvement. Performs supplier audit, reviewing the supplier quality system and manufacturing processes, focusing on supplier process improvement and optimization and driving for preventive system. Leads and supervises the incoming quality control (IQC) function and provides the technical support and training to the IQC team. Works closely with PPC global branches, designs engineering and global sourcing departments to address the supplier quality concerns including gauging, measurement and SPEC issues. Ensures PPC processes are ISO compliant and maintained through proper documentation and training. Participates in Kaizen events for improving current processes and reducing costs. Provides opportunities for staff self-development and empowerment. Interviews and makes hiring decision for new staff. Handles employee counseling, annual performance reviews, and termination of employees as needed. Additional responsibilities include overseeing quality technician activity, developing in-process inspection criteria, specifying new gauge requirements, and developing supplier quality improvement initiatives. Performs all other duties as assigned. Required and Preferred Skills and Experience for our Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer Include: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Mechanical or Industrial discipline preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in supplier quality engineering control / management. Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. ISO 9000 lead auditor or TS 16949 auditor certification preferred. ASQ or CQE certifications are preferred. Six-sigma black belt or green belt preferred. Experience with global suppliers preferred. Prior supervision experience preferred. Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for our Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer: Strong understanding of the manufacturing process such as the machining process, plating, ejection molding, and stamping process in detail. Common knowledge regarding the defects and remedies in processes. Strong Knowledge and skills of mechanical drawing interpretation, experience on precision part measurement by using vision system, CMM and other equipment is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills to effectively deal with individuals at all levels. Well-developed organization skills, including the ability to handle many details and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while upholding quality standards. Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite and statistical analysis software. Ability to maintain good records in accordance with company policy and procedures. Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.
