Job Description:

Professional Services Company who services all of NYS (Except NYC) is looking for an HR Manager to join its team. Will manage HR for all NY markets and will be based out of the Buffalo area. Candidate must be willing to travel as needed. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Instill and model a strong customer service focus throughout the HR department. Works closely with assigned companies to retain, replace and recruit employees. Coach and counsel managers and employees to ensure employees are properly placed within the organization.
  • Review Exit Surveys; recognize trends and make suggestions to VP of HR on improving employees' experience.
  • Oversees annual performance review process to ensure all employees receive constructive and developmental feedback and that all employees have the opportunity to conduct a self-appraisal.
  • Coach employees and managers on personnel issues.
  • Educate and enforce company policies by coaching employees, conducting trainings and orientations.
  • Visit markets to conduct trainings, open enrollment meetings, orientations or other meetings as needed.
  • Analyze overtime, new hire/term and other reports and identify areas of concern and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work on assigned HR projects with other HR team members in outside markets
  • Manage certain HR department initiatives; be the project manager for certain HR projects that will be implemented company-wide.
  • Make recommendations to VP of HR and COO on improving HR processes.
  • Ensure reports are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
  • Research and follow up on HR related issues, such as: complaints, performance issues, job re-assignments, hiring needs, etc.
  • Work with other operations departments to achieve seamless work flow between Payroll, Accounting, HR, Benefits, and IT.
  • Work closely with VP of HR on project management and other department activities such as recognition programs, events, trainings.
    Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
    • Strong HR knowledge and understanding of employment laws.
    • Strong organizational, time management skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills. Problem solving capabilities must be strong.
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Word / Excel and technical capabilities; familiarity with ADP is necessary.
    • Understanding of HR and Benefit functions.
    • Secure, safeguard and maintain confidentiality of employee information.
    • Ability to work under and meet deadlines
    • Ability to supervise employees.
    • Ability to travel out-of-state for meetings and trainings. Education and experience required:
      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business plus 5 to 7 years of general HR experience.
      • Certification preferred.
      • Supervisory or management experience required.
