Le Moyne College, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Founding Program Director, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Reporting to the Dean of the Purcell School of Professional Studies, the Founding Program Director is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and management of the DPT program.The Founding Program Director will serve as the strategic academic and operational leader of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program by providing leadership for the faculty in terms of program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, research, and service. The specific duties of the Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters concerning the development of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
  • Lead the faculty and development team in strategic planning and monitor the process to further the program's mission in teaching, research, service, and patient care.
  • Supervise the process of seeking, achieving, and maintaining all necessary CAPTE program accreditation.
  • Ensure that the Physical Therapy faculty is involved with research and scholarly activity.
  • Ensure that the Physical Therapy facility continues to meet the educational, functional and maintenance needs of the faculty, students, and staff. The Program Director will work collaboratively with an inter-professional team in the development of the respective health sciences programs. The Program Director is also responsible for attaining and maintaining CAPTE accreditation and will pursue academic excellence within the program by providing program leadership, promoting the program and enhancing its visibility, assisting with recruiting and retaining students, and managing the day-to-day logistics of the program. The Program Director is responsible for the continuous evaluation of faculty and completing a written evaluation of each faculty member on a regular basis. Le Moyne CollegeFounded in 1946, Le Moyne is the second youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S and the first to open as a co-educational institution. The College is named for Simon Le Moyne, a Jesuit priest, missionary and teacher with a considerable influence on Central New York. Le Moyne's first classes were held in downtown Syracuse before excavation began on the former Gifford Farm. In 1948 the College's first two structures, now known as Grewen Hall and the Coyne Science Center, were built. Today, approximately 2,500 full-time undergraduate students and 650 graduate students are enrolled at Le Moyne, with a ratio of 56% full-time undergraduate female and 44% full-time undergraduate male. Students (undergraduate, graduate, full-time and part-time) come from 30 states and 37 countries.Le Moyne's 160-acre, tree-lined campus is located in a residential setting 10 minutes from downtown Syracuse, the heart of New York state. Our 48 buildings include a variety of student residential housing, several academic and administrative buildings, the Panasci Family Chapel, Noreen Reale Falcone Library and W. The Campus Center features the LaCasse Dining Center and the Campus Pub, while the Dolphin Den (located on the first floor of Grewen Hall) is a popular gathering spot, as is the Le Moyne Plaza. The lower part of campus features the Recreation Center, the Henninger Athletic Center, a multi-use turf field, and baseball and softball diamonds.Le Moyne offers more than 700 courses leading to Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 30 different majors. Le Moyne also provides courses of study leading to a master's in business administration, education, nurse administrator, nurse educator, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, arts administration, information systems, taxation, and family nurse practitioner. The College's Center for Continuing Education offers evening degrees, certificate programs and houses the Success for Veteran's Program. The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
    • An academic terminal degree in Physical Therapy or related field (i.e., PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
    • A license to practice physical therapy in New York (or ability to obtain)
    • Experience preparing for, obtaining and maintaining CAPTE accreditation
    • Administrative experience (including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting)
    • A record of scholarship and history of teaching and service
