Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Geneva, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,022 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 14 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 3x12s, day or night shift variable Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a Medical/Surgical environment as a Registered Nurse License: New York State RN Licensure required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in a Medical/Surgical environment Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. Key responsibilities include applying nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care. The RN assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data or information obtained through direct observation and health team communication. They create a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of identified health problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, the RN sets goals and monitors patient progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition. They promote, advocate for, and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient. The RN encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. They teach others as appropriate and delegate tasks and interventions consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice. The RN understands personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. They motivate the patient and family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home. The RN assesses the patient and family learning styles and structures educational sessions to maximize understanding. They seek teachable moments during care delivery to emphasize pertinent information. The RN evaluates retention of key points in the self-care process and provides tools and information to assist patients' families after discharge. They document the education provided and the patient and family response to education. The RN systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery. They engage in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development. The RN takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills. They use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families. The RN seeks to develop a trusting and caring relationship by being present during interactions, listening, communicating, engaging, and anticipating patient and family needs. They strive to understand what is most important to the patient and family, acknowledging that they are the central focus of all care and services.
