Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Penn Yan, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,110 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 14 Weeks Start Date: 4/13/2026 About the Position Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Level 1) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Acute Med/Surg Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Full Time, Rotational Day/Night/Weekend/Holidays Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: One (1) Year in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse License: NYS RN Licensure Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - One (1) Year Experience serving in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse - NYS RN Licensure Required - BLS and ACLS Certifications Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. He/She promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment. The RN assesses patient/family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data/information obtained through direct observation and assessment, technology, or health team communication. Creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and health care team members, sets goals and monitors the patient’s progress. The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition/reprioritization of needs. Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, using the results of Quality Improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and to influence care delivery. Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development, and takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills. Demonstrates skill in the application of nursing interventions including medication administration. Motivates the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home. Assesses the patient/family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding. Seeks teachable moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information. Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self-care process. Provides tools and information to assist the patient/family after discharge. Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education. Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to promote collaboration to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual’s education, training, and scope of practice. Complies with infection prevention strategies and maintains competencies required to care for the specific population in the area assigned. Reports potential safety risks and inappropriate/questionable practices. Promotes leadership awareness and fosters positive change. Conducts rounds per protocol and uses tools and equipment to keep the patient/family informed, engaged, and safe. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making a meaningful connection with the patient/family. Seeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present during interactions. Listens, communicates, engages, and anticipates the needs of the patient/family. Strives to understand what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging that they are the central focus of all care and services.
