Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Auburn, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,810 per week Shift Information: 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Title: Step-Down Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of recent Step-Down experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac monitoring Dysrhythmia interpretation IV and vascular management Description: The Step-Down Registered Nurse will provide care for patients transitioning from critical care to a step-down environment. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of recent experience in step-down nursing. The unit primarily cares for patients with congestive heart failure and those recovering from cardiac catheterizations and vascular procedures. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as respiratory failure and cardiac dysrhythmias. The nurse will perform frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks, post-heart catheterization care, and post-vascular procedure monitoring. Candidates must be proficient in IV start and maintenance, blood product administration, and emergency medications. The nurse will also assist in management of patients on BiPAP/CPAP and support with procedural sedation. Infection prevention and adherence to isolation precautions are essential for this role. Experience with phlebotomy and understanding of isolation precautions and PPE is required. This role requires teamwork and the ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary support team. The facility maintains a patient ratio of 1:4-5. Travelers must coordinate coverage with peers regarding time-off requests. First-time travelers may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Previous travelers in good standing are eligible to return. Candidates residing within a specified local distance may be accepted at a different rate.
