Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Profession: RN Specialty: Acute Med/Surg Duration: Full Time Shift: Rotational Day/Night/Weekend/Holidays Hours per Shift: 12-hour shifts Experience: One (1) Year Experience serving in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse License: RN Licensure Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Ability to deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and families Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care. The RN assesses patient needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skills in the area of cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization. He/She promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment. Applies nursing knowledge and skills by assessing patient and family needs. Uses active listening and social perceptiveness to understand patient reactions. Creates a developmentally and culturally relevant individualized plan of care. In collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors progress. Adjusts the plan based on patient response or changes in condition. Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Uses results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice. Engages in self-evaluation, identifies strengths, and seeks professional development opportunities. Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Demonstrates skill in nursing interventions, including medication administration. Motivates the patient and family by teaching necessary information for continued care and healing at home. Assesses learning styles and structures education sessions to maximize understanding. Seeks teachable moments during care delivery to emphasize key information. Evaluates retention of key points in the self-care process. Provides tools and information to assist the patient and family after discharge. Documents education provided and patient/family responses. Complies with infection prevention strategies. Reports potential safety risks and inappropriate practices. Promotes leadership awareness and fosters positive change.
