Job Description Job Description Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Profession Registered Nurse Specialty Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Assignment Details Contract Length: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift | 4 × 12-hour shifts Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Location Rochester, New York Position Overview The Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with acute medical, neurological, and telemetry needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective patient monitoring skills, and the ability to manage varying acuity levels in a fast-paced inpatient setting. Staffing & Scheduling Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg) Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend First-Time Travelers: Accepted Local Candidates: Must reside outside a 75-mile radius Experience Requirements Minimum Experience: 1 year of MS/Tele or MedSurg experience NY State RN License: Required and must be in hand (no exceptions) Required Certifications BLS ACLS NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Required Clinical Skills & Competencies Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Rapid Response and Code Team utilization IV Therapy & Phlebotomy Peripheral IV line care and management Respiratory Care Nasal cannula Oxygen face masks Portable oxygen systems Non-invasive airway management Professional Practice Isolation precautions Evidence-based patient care delivery Unit Overview This role supports a combined Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit with a focus on acute neurological and stroke patients, as well as general medical populations. The unit follows an adjustable-acuity care delivery model emphasizing evidence-based practices across prevention, acute intervention, and recovery phases.
