in Auburn, NY is seeking a Victim Services Advocate/Educator to
provide a comprehensive range of victim services including crisis
counseling assessments and intakes, information/referrals, personal
advocacy and emergency assistance to victims of crime in Cayuga
County as well as provide education and awareness programming on
domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in the community.
Paid On call, crisis hotline coverage is required. Essential
Functions: Conduct intakes and advocacy and crisis services for
victims of crime including victims of sexual assault, child sexual
abuse and domestic violence and those served through our Child
Advocacy Center. Complete Danger Assessments with victims of
domestic violence served through the program. Provide direct
services to crime victims including crisis intervention services,
safety planning, advocacy services, crime victim rights
information, emergency transportation, short-term childcare
services, referrals for temporary housing/shelter and security
measures, assistance in participating in criminal justice
proceedings, referrals and accompaniment to forensic medical
examinations, law enforcement accompaniment and other services as
needed. Accompany victims/ families to court and provide ongoing
crisis intervention throughout the criminal process. Provide status
updates to victims. Provide referrals to community resources,
counseling, and victims' compensation information. Assist victims
with filing Victim Compensation Claims through the Office of Victim
Services Document services per the funding and regulatory
guidelines. Maintain case files and all necessary documentation in
a neat, clear and concise manner. Create, schedule and facilitate
ongoing outreach activities for program and service awareness.
Provide services on Cayuga Community College campuses and provide
presentations to students, faculty, and staff. Provide coverage for
the crisis hotline on a rotating basis. Attend staff team meetings
and participate in case conferences. Participate on the Child Abuse
Multi-Disciplinary Team and various other MDT'S in the community.
Provide outreach and promote awareness of domestic violence, sexual
assault, and child abuse. Any and all other tasks necessary for the
successful operation of the program. Attend community meetings as
requested by management Preform related work as required.
Requirements include: Associate's degree in human services or
related field. Equivalent experience working with victims of sexual
assault, domestic violence or child abuse is prefered. Familiarity
with sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence as well as
knowledge of the effects of trauma. Strong communication skills and
public speaking skills. Benefits include: 3 weeks PTO in your first
