Job Title: Staff Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years current experience working in an Emergency Department, as well as previous traveler experience with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatrics care. License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. They prevent illness and injury and alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a vital aspect of the role. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This includes adherence to relevant policies and the Code of Ethics for Nurses. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN manages a group of patients, serving as the primary or accountable nurse when designated. Education of patients and families in health promotion and disease management is essential. The RN utilizes knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to established policies. They share in responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and supplies. Compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies is expected. The RN actively participates in nursing governance and contributes to improvement initiatives. The RN also provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Duties may include performing Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities when assigned.
