License: Current New York State Registered Nurse License required. Certifications: BLS Certification required. Professional certification in a related nursing specialty preferred. The RN prevents illness and injury and alleviates suffering through diagnosis and treatment. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a key responsibility. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This includes adherence to the Nurse Practice Act and established policies. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care. They manage a group of patients, serving as a primary or accountable nurse. Patient and family education on health promotion and disease management is essential. Compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies is mandatory. Active participation in nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review practices is expected. The RN engages in professional development and completes mandatory education requirements.
