*Employment Type:*Full time*Shift:*Rotating Shift*Description:*At *St. Josephs Health *the *Surgical Services Department *records more than 11,000 surgeries annually in our state-of-art operating rooms providing a full range of surgical services, offering care for ambulatory, elective, and critically ill patients. The *Registered Nurse Surgical Admit & Recovery *is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe transitions between preoperative and post-anesthesia care phases.*What you will do*:* Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including reviewing medical history and administering preoperative medications. Monitor patients in the *Pre-Op* area, ensuring they are stable and ready for surgery.* Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, monitoring vital signs and assessing for complications.* Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.* Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.*Minimum Qualifications: ** *Education*: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduate preferred.* *Licensure*: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in New York.* *Certification*: BLS/CPR. CNOR or CPAN certification a plus.* *Experience: *Minimum of 1- 2 years experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or Surgical/Perioperative Nursing*Work Schedule*: Full time 40 Hour Day/Evening Rotating Shift*Ministry/Facility Information:**St. Josephs Health* is a regional non-profit health care system based in Syracuse, NY. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
