LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Syracuse, NY. This role works in a high volume, production based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.The schedule for this position will be: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM- 5:00PM*Job Duties/Responsibilities:** Actively participate in clerical activities including accessioning/registering cases, phone inquiries, preparation and packaging of specimens, and assist in quality assurance review.* Proficient and accurate in the use of the laboratory information system (LIS) especially as relates to the accessioning and registering patients. * Familiar with the use of a computer and Windows-based software applications, including use of keyboard and mouse. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment.* Answer the phone; appropriately interact with referring providers and staff; direct calls internally as necessary.* File, store, and retrieve finished slides and blocks when necessary.* Store and retrieve ThinPrep vials for ancillary testing.* Assist in maintaining proper inventory of supplies; notify Team Lead when reorders need to be placed.* Label, assemble, and/or distribute cytology and histology slides as needed. * Perform miscellaneous clerical duties as required, including, but not limited to: typing, filing, photocopying, phone calls, faxing, shredding, etc. * Knowledgeable in the use of personal safety devices and supplies; perform the duties and functions of the position according to the standards and procedures as stated in Biosafety Manual.* Demonstrate professional conduct and communication skills at all times.* Report all major problems to management in a timely manner; consult with appropriate personnel in resolving problems.* Perform the duties of the position ethically, honestly and in the strictest of confidence, and always in compliance with Employer policies and procedures.* Perform other related duties as may be required.The pay range for this position is $15 to $23.43 . All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
