Job Description:

*Job Summary: * Primary responsibility is the daily execution of all Quality Assurance processes. This includes all product testing, field testing, and data tracking. This team member must have a drive for continuous improvement in all processes, logical problem-solving skills, and the desire to lead by example.

*Essential Functions and Responsibilities: *

*Quality Assurance*

- Daily testing of all products in all departments.

o Fermentation monitoring

o Pressed juice analysis and tracking per variety

o Branding specs and tolerances

o Pre-package product analysis

o Package product analysis

o Product library interval analysis

o Market sample testing

o New Product stress testing

- Data Recording

o Records all data relevant to each product

o Create new data collection points for all process and recipe development

- Yeast Management

o Yeast propagator management

o Cell counts and pitch rates accurate

o Feed Yeast appropriately for maximum cell growth and health

o Properly administer nutrients to maximize cell growth and health

- Quality Incidents

o Investigation

o Testing

o Reporting and recording data

o Customer complaints

o Customer communication

- Quality Assurance Development

o Bacterial and yeast plating program


- Lab SOPs updated and filed correctly

- New SOPs created for new processes

- Ensure all employees understand SOP processes

- Certify qualified employees for lab SOPs


- Evaluate and maintain appropriate consumable inventory levels

- Accurate inventory control in Obeer software


- All ingredient and product costs are known, and all costs are tracked in Obeer.

- All product purchasing is quoted, and all costs are known prior to purchasing.

- All new products costing is estimated prior to trials

- All new product costing is confirmed and recorded after trials.


- Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques, and products.

- All paperwork is diligently completed in an accurate and timely manner

- Ensure all team mates are working efficiently

- Produce R&D ciders when available to do so.

- Assist cellar production when available

- Conducts themself in a professional and cooperative manner

- Maintains professional appearance all times.

- Fully completing assigned tasks, or seeking assistance when needed

- Overall Cleanliness and ability to follow processes

- Whenever a mistake is made, a solution on how to ensure it will never happen again must be implemented

- Follows all safety protocols

- Utilizes time in an efficient and effective manner

- Makes a positive contribution to the team through attitude, ideas, and work ethic.

*Education, Skills & Knowledge: *

- Required: High school diploma or equivalent

- Experience working with 150 bbl + batches

- Well-developed tasting skills

- In-depth understanding of major aspects of cidermaking, laboratory procedures, bottling and production workflow

- Computer proficient in Excel, Access and Word

- Ability to professionally and politely resolve all product issues & complaints.

- Good organizational, planning, and presentation skills

- Clear commitment to high quality and attention to details

- Able to work independently with minimum supervision

- Ability to lead, train, and supervise others

- Ability to frequently and repeatedly lift full kegs. (165#s)

- Must have the ability to be on your feet for an entire shift.
