Cornell University's Statler Hotel is searching for our next leader of our Front Office Team. Our Front Office Manager leads teams of professional staff and bright, young, talented college students who are eager to learn and be inspired to work together to deliver a WOW to guests of the Statler Hotel. This is a key position in participating in our teaching mission by providing coaching and mentoring to student employees of the Front Office and by cooperating with faculty and students as a part of classes or research that may be integrated into the operation.

The Front Office Manager Opportunity:

As the leader of our Front Office Team you will report to the Director of Rooms and lead the overall management of Front Office operations, including: Bellstand/Valet, PBX, Reservations, Night Audit, and Front Desk. This position is critical for providing a world class level of service to guests of the Statler Hotel from the moment guests come into contact with our Bellstand and Front Office staff to their departure. The Front Office Manager serves as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) for the hotel, taking responsibility for the overall guest experience during their stay in the Statler Hotel and exercising discretion and independent judgment to ensure quality and service standards are met throughout the hotel. The MOD facilitates communication and cooperation between all operating departments, providing direction to staff, anticipating and responding to operational needs, maintaining inventory controls and overseeing cash handling procedures. The Front Office Manager is a part of the Statler Hotel's Leadership Team and has the opportunity to initiate and lead projects as well as participate in management meetings serving on committees in the Hotel, School, and University.

What we are looking for in a Front Office Manager:

* Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of relative experience working as a front office manager, ideally in a 4 star/diamond hotel.
* Proven ability to assume responsibility, act decisively, and lead staff.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.'
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve guest problems quickly and calmly.
* Must be driven and energetic with excellent customer service, teamwork and leadership skills.
* Must be organized and able to multi-task.
* Ability and enthusiasm to coach, mentor and train students as well as other inexperienced staff.
* Computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
* Good working knowledge of hotel management systems/revenue management/online travel agencies.
* Professional demeanor fitting of a high end, four-diamond hotel property.
