Armstrong Rapid Manufacturing, a Syracuse, NY based manufacturer of both protype and production volumes of machined castings, is seeking a full time Quality Manager to join their team. Our position is as follows: Provides implementation and maintenance of quality management systems, safety and regulatory requirements. This includes the planning, documentation and maintenance, ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 third party and internal audits and the resolution of any non-conformance(s) as a result.

Essential Functions:

Manages the development and documentation for all aspects of the QMS system to ensure conformance to the ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer requirements.

Champions the internal and external audit program, lead audits, and prepare the staff for external audits and ensure audit findings are closed out in a timely manner.

Accountable for the product quality tests and test records to ensure production quality levels are maintained for our customers and drive next level improvements.

Develops and maintains non-conforming product processes to ensure disposition, data recording, and segregation is maintained.

Manages the systems to track and regularly report to management on the quality related KPIs and establish action plans for the KPIs not meeting goal.

Identifies and leads quality related continuous improvement efforts with the cross-functional teams

Ensures the metrology equipment, calibration systems, and in process quality tests are maintained at optimal levels to guarantee robust productivity.

Directs, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.

Manages and directs quality personnel to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards and requirements.

Initiates MRB for the disposition of suspect conditions, non-conforming materials, product and processes.

Performs other tasks as directed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (BS) in quality engineering, applied science or engineering or related field from a four year college or university and five or more years related experience in Quality Assurance Management preferably in metals manufacturing industry. Must have strong management skills. Mechanical Quality inspection experience, incl. the use of measurement tools such as micrometer, caliper, test indicator and height gage, scale.

Must have experience with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 audits and quality management systems requirements and be capable of performing internal audits as well as leading customer and 3rd-party auditors.

Candidate must be self-motivated, act on their own initiative to consistently improve the quality of goods and services provided by the company and the quality system.

Must be able to pass a driver's license background check.

Experience with MS-Office.

Physical Requirements

A combination of walking and sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift up to and including 35 pds. needed. Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.

The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the office occasionally (accessing files/storage, office equipment, computers and other office productivity devices, attending meetings, etc.), is required.

Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common. Quality managers must also be able to position self to maintain equipment, including under tables and desks.

Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners). The job is normally performed indoors, in a traditional office setting. Extended periods of sitting while using a computer or other devices are common. Occasional travel to vendor sites (10-15%) for audits, inspections, etc., may be required
