(non-negotiable) Primary Purpose of Position Under general
supervision until qualifications are attained, the trainee provides
radiation protection services in support of plant operations and
maintenance, in accordance with applicable regulations and
standards. Primary Duties and Accountabilities Under general
supervision until qualifications are attained Conducts and
evaluates radiation, airborne radioactivity and contamination
surveys to determine the required radiation protection requirements
and personnel stay time, and maintains required postings. Assists
with monitoring personnel exposure to airborne radioactivity and
radiation to maintain personnel exposure as low as reasonably
achievable (ALARA). Prescribes the required protective clothing and
devices for all individual entries into controlled areas of the
site Ensures that controlled area material is surveyed in
accordance with approved procedures prior to unrestricted release.
Assists with calibrations, repairs, and maintains equipment used to
perform radiological surveys and respiratory test equipment Assists
with the preparation of radioactive material for disposal. Installs
and certifies shielding, ventilation, and radiological containment
devices at work site. Assists in the decontamination of personnel
and equipment. Successfully completes 100/150 series fundamental
training and attains qualifications to independently perform basic
radiation protection tasks such as conducting and analyzing survey
results, performing area and equipment decontamination, and
controlling worker ingress and egress into radiological controlled
areas. Successfully completes 200 and 250 series initial classroom
training and 200 series hands-on task training and evaluation. Upon
completion of 200 and 250 series training and until the applicable
ANSI experience time requirement is met, performs 200 and 250
series tasks under general supervision of qualified radiation
protection technicians. Perform emergency response duties as
assigned. May be required to work overtime and shift work. Perform

Qualifications/Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications High school
Diploma or GED Experience in the fields of radiation control job
coverage, radioactive waste management, and respiratory protection
program implementation preferred but not required Must possess a
good technical aptitude as evidenced by successfully passing the
EEI Tech test Meets the requirements of Company and Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) psychological, drug, alcohol, and
medical testing policies and/or regulations Ability to wear a
respirator and work with a 20 pound weight on the back Incumbents
will be required to work outdoors in all conditions, climbing,
working from ladders and platforms, exposure to heat, dirt, noise,
and radiation May be subject to certification and recertification
with periodic reviews if required by NRC or industry standards Any
modification mandated by law or regulation enacted by a
governmental agency that affects either the duties or
qualifications of this position will become a part of this job

and weekend work Frequent exposure to heat, noise, dirt and
radiation
