smarter transportation Role Purpose In this position you will
become a member of Corning Advanced Optics’ world class lens design
team. Primary day to day functions include: lens design form
development of complex optical systems distilled from customer
requirements, realization of a fabrication production strategy for
multi element lens systems using custom sensitivity and tolerancing
software, collaborate with system metrology engineers to develop
appropriate test and optimization station, provide optical design
support to the manufacturing team , work within a multi-disciplined
project team to analyze, engineer & build lens systems from
conception to completion. Required Education & Skills Bachelors or
Masters in Optics or related field Minimum 3-5 years experience
related to optical design engineering Track record of designing and
optimizing complex multi element lens assemblies and reflective
systems from concept to final form for manufacturing Expert user of
commercially available optical design analysis software. CodeV
(preferred), Oslo, Zemax, or similar LightTools, ASAP, FRED, or
similar Ability to take vague system requirements and distill them
into a cohesive set of design specifications. Keen understanding of
optical manufacturing strategies, sensitivity analysis,
manufacturing tolerancing, and fabrication methods. Optical design
development of systems from UV to IR. Multi conjugate, zoom
systems, single configuration, mono chromatic and broad band
imaging systems Understanding of design concepts and principles of
illumination systems. Familiarity with lens testing method,
interferometry, wavefront sensing, mono-chromatic and
polychromactic testing, resolution via modulation transfer function
(MTF) Ability to communicate and share optical design concepts,
build strategy with a multi discipline team during the engineering
and prototype phases for new lens system. Macro programming with
VBA and/or Matlab software packages. This position does not support
immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $89,634.00
- $123,247.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the
successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related
factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market
demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits
