Job Description:

Staffworks is seeking a Head Mechanic for a building component manufacture in central New York.The mechanic will be responsible for performing any maintenance or repair on trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years' diesel mechanic experience. Diesel mechanic schooling or diesel mechanic certification is a plus.Required skills/abilities:Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel and/or gasoline powered enginesIn-depth knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine components and operational mechanismsSuperior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipmentComfortable using mechanical and electrical power toolsExcellent problem-solving skillsKeen attention to detailBasic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronicsProficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic softwareA valid driver's licenseGood interpersonal skillsEffective collaboration and communication skillsEducation/experience requirements:High school diploma or GEDCertification and training in diesel engine repair from a vocational school or a community college a plusPreferred trainings include but are not limited to drive trains, preventativemaintenance, inspection, engine architecture, electrical systems, diesel technology, etc.At least 5 years' experience in related fields.Duties/Responsibilities:Performing preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and any S.R. Sloan equipmentPerform repairs as needed in a timely mannerDiagnose any issues abnormal functions with trucks, trailers, or other equipment and escalate to vender or outside technician if necessaryConducts safety inspections on vehicles and equipmentDocuments any repairs made to vehicles and equipmentMaintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standardsWelding and cutting material when requiredOrdering parts and materials as needed
