Job Description:
The Underwriting Operations Supervisor is responsible for the
Underwriting division staff development and supervision of the
operations team. This individual will provide daily supervision and
provide guidance and support to the staff and perform duties under
direct guidance from Underwriting management. Duties &
Responsibilities: Manage assigned team, provide guidance,
direction, and leadership. Responsible for the daily tasks of
individuals within their span of control. Develop, cultivate,
mentor, coach, and evaluate team to meet individual company
standards and the goals outlined in the divisional business plan.
Assist with staff maintenance through recruiting, selecting,
orienting, promoting, and any necessary terminations. Provide
insight in the annual planning process, evaluating team priorities
and capacity. Set and approve employee’s work schedule. Verify and
approve timekeeping records and consult employees about any
discrepancies. Document performance feedback and other personnel
matters. Conduct quality assurance and production review of the
staff. Supervise DMV IIES unit, bill verification, and the
interactions between operations and IT on writing program requests,
testing and auditing program Review and implement changes required
by NYS law and regulation and complete NYSID special calls. Manage
the daily routine system maintenance jobs performed by the
operations Coordinate the implementation of new programs into the
underwriting Provide training on new procedures and programs as
they are introduced for underwriting and other company departments.
Develop, implement, and maintain division procedures and processes.
Support to other operations supervisors. Maintain job Create and
maintain departmental workflow rules. Oversee workflow costing.
Write business plans and prepare corporate initiatives. Maintain
the project priority list. Monitor department expenses and complete
yearly budget forecast items. Compile production data for entire
division as part of their evaluation. Provide input on processes
and procedures to improve production and increased efficiencies.
Coordinate communication between department members and staff
related to vendor information, products, and program initiatives.
Maximize the use of technology within the department workflow to
improve the customer experience, efficiency, and productivity
within the department. Support marketing efforts with creation of
reports aimed at identifying areas of concern or profitability
opportunities. Develop, implement, and oversee the training
program. Provide training for new underwriters. Create scenario
assessments for raters. Collaborate with supervisor team to
determine training and remediation needs based on scenario
assessments and transaction audits. Assist in underwriter and CSR
quality assurance reviews. Oversee training for employees from
other departments tailored to their specific needs. Serve in
advisory capacity to other staff with procedures, philosophy, and
underwriting judgements. Review underwriting notices for regulatory
compliance. Oversee the implementation of phone coaching in
underwiring; monitor and provide coaching for underwriter phone
calls. Compile quality assurance data for staff evaluations. Work
with training supervisor to develop, maintain and enhance a
well-developed training plan involving scenario assessment based on
rating staff quality assurance quarterly results. Analyze monthly
transaction audit to make workflow and training recommendations for
improvements to processes and procedures. Provide input on
processes and procedures as a result of quality assurance revies
and top errors. Approve security sheets and system Professionally
answer customer inquiries. Communicate the company underwriting
strategy and work with other departments as appropriate to support
market Other duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma
Business experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree 3 years of
underwriting experience or equivalent Qualifications/Skills Good
understanding of organizational operations and procedures.
Proficient in departmental workflow and underwriting procedures.
Thorough understanding of personal lines underwriting including
applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, losses,
follow-up and other routine underwriting tasks for all personal
lines of business. Ability to underwrite all lines of business
according to company underwriting and rating guidelines. Good
computer and Microsoft skills. Good leadership skills with ability
to mentor, coach and handle conflict/controversy/difficult
conversations with staff. Professional attitude and ability to
effectively handle stress and motivate staff. Good written and oral
communication and customer service skills. Organizational, time
management and prioritization skills. Good decision-making,
problem-solving, risk analysis and analytical skills. Ability to
work independently or on a team. Ability to establish and build
effective relationships within and outside the organization. Good
Interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to establish
credibility and influence decision-making within the division.
Market Range: 10 / Exempt / 40 hours per week / 3 days in office
Salary Range: $63,313 - $105,521 Accepting applications until:
